Travel Souvenirs: Ticket Stubs

While it is most fun to shop for memorable trinkets and cool souvenirs when traveling, shopping can be time-consuming and expensive. Not to mention the limited space in a suitcase or backpack and restrictions for security and customs. What’s a traveler to do? Here are 6 souvenirs to collect on your next trip. They’re small. They’re FREE. Everybody wins.

1. Matchbooks: A good memory of the favorite restaurants and cool bars you stumbled upon during your travels.

2. Coasters: Keep them within reach in a bowl on your coffee table. Reminisce about your travels every time you sip a drink at home.

3. Money: Instead of obsessing over ridding yourself of that last bit of cash at the airport, hang on to a few bucks. Stumbling upon a Euro in my wallet always reminds me that my last trip wasn’t as far away as it seems.

4. Bottle Caps: A way to record the best breweries and remember those little-known spirits that you’ll be craving once you return home.

5. Ticket stubs: Metro passes, baseball games, Broadway shows, and historic tours. Alone they seem worthless, but in bunches ticket stubs become a treasure trove of travel memories.

6. Business Cards: A quick and easy way to remember the best restaurants, bars, shops, and museums. The website address comes in handy when you get home — especially for stores. Who says you can’t buy a souvenir online from the comfort of your couch?!

  • Wow, you have some really great ideas! Loving your blog!

  • Yes, It is more exciting with a different label form other place. Sometime you might only visit that place once in your life and you can look at it and say I’ve been there.

  • @Garrett– Beer labels! Good one!

@Sarah — And of course, everyday products are so much more exciting with foreign labels.

  • Beer labels. That’s my travel souvenir crutch. I’m ordinarily allergic to buying any souvenirs. A travel friend once bought a “pingometro” (wall device for measuring pinga (Brazilian cachaca) in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, then commenced carrying it under his arm for a month through 3 more countries.

    Never!

PS – You should check us out. Our travel cards and posters are great ways to remember your trip!

  • Great Post , My favorite is tickets stub. I always keep them even tho some of them are not as fancy looking. It sure brings back lot’s of memory

  • Ok so it’s not free – but I like to collect shampoo, soap, and toothpaste from different countries to remind us daily of our travels. My son likes to look at the Thai or German language on his toothpaste!

I also like to browse the pharmacies as they tend to have great over the counter remedies for colds, headaches, etc.

Small, inexpensive, and practical – but adds some smiles to life between trips!

    Great post–
