SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – Day or night, summer or winter, grab a seat at the bar of the Buena Vista Cafe for a heated 6 oz. goblet of goodness — the Irish Coffee. What? You don’t like Irish Coffee? Oh, it’s probably because you’ve never had a REAL one.
The Buena Vista recreated this Irish specialty in the US in the 1950s after much trial and error. It’s the same recipe they use today. (Read the story here.) Needless to say, this bar is not messing around. The bartenders take the Irish Coffee very seriously. Our bartender even entertained us while we sipped. Magic tricks, anyone? It was awesome.
Nestled between the Fisherman’s Wharf and Ghirardelli Square, it’s the perfect taste (literally) of REAL San Francisco in between two tourist traps. So take a seat and drink up. Whiskey never tasted so good.
