THE BEST LITTLE ITALY THAT NEVER WAS

Peter Sciortino Bakery

Peter Sciortino BakeryMILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN – Question: Two delicious Italian landmarks are right across the street from each other. What do you say to the food Gods? Answer: Grazie. For the love of God. Grazie.

When an Italian bakery has been around for 60-plus years, you go to it. Nestled on Brady Street lives Peter Sciortino’s. The makers of absolutely delicious Italian goodies, specifically cannoli. If you don’t see cannoli in the display cases just ask, “Excuse me, do you have any cannoli today?” To which they will reply, “Oh yes, we make them fresh in the back every day.” Best. Answer. Ever.

As if life couldn’t get better, down the street you’ll find an authentic (and newly renovated) Italian market named Glorioso’s. This is where you pick up essentials like incredibly hot giardiniera, hazelnut¬†baci candy, and cheap but delicious Italian meatball subs. Don’t miss the frozen food aisle for instant Italian dinners. These are the things you need to get through the week, right? Right. Mangi! Mangi!
