PARIS, FRANCE – Anthony Bourdain went here which means this place is bad ass. The food is cooked over a tiny fireplace that greets you when you walk in the door. Whatever you do, order the potatoes. The food in this Marais district restaurant is to die for. Be sure to make a reservation, and be sure to speak French because they sure as hell don’t speak English.
We ate in the cozy basement with a party of 6 and it ended up turning into a 4-hour long event of awesomeness. At one point, the manager asked us (in French) if we minded if everyone smoked (yes, there is a smoking ban in Paris). The night ended with the entire restaurant performing a rousing rendition of the Cranberries ‘Zombie.’ They really love that song.
When we walked upstairs to leave, it was empty and dark. Robert et Louise was completely unsuspecting from the outside. Exactly how they like it.
